Verizon added 100 Toyota Priuses to their fleet for new years replacing others. They said they wanted to cut down on gasoline and greenhouse gas emissions by purchasing 100 new hybrid sedans. Verizon expects to save 30,000 gallons of fuel annually and reduce emissions by 263,000 Metric tons. In the year of 2006 Verizon saved 6,000 trees by cutting down on the amount of paper billing. Verizon also uses vegetable-based lubricants for cable operations.
